Bins for picking

Use bins to organize orders while picking and to prevent mistakes.

Bins let you organize orders during the pick process. Each bin gets a unique barcode, so while picking you know exactly which bin every product belongs in. When packing, you scan the bin and the right order opens automatically. This prevents mistakes and speeds up the packing process.

Creating bins

There are two ways to create bins:

Manually

  1. Go to Settings > Bins.

  2. Click Add bin.

  3. Give the bin a name (it must be unique).

  4. Click Save.

Using the wizard

The wizard lets you create several bins at once:

  1. Choose the type: letters (A, B, C...) or numbers (1, 2, 3...).

  2. Choose the starting value (for example "A" or "1").

  3. Choose the number of bins you want to create.

The bins are created automatically with sequential names.

Generating barcode labels

Each bin can get a barcode label that you can print and stick on the physical bin. Click Generate label next to a bin. The barcode label opens, which you can print and stick on the bin.

Using bins while picking

When you pick with bins, it works as follows:

  1. ShopLinkr assigns each order to a specific bin.

  2. While picking, you first scan the product and then the bin.

  3. This way you can be sure that every product ends up in the right bin.

  4. When packing, you scan the bin and the right order opens automatically.

See Working with pick lists for more information about the pick process with and without bins.
