# Canceling an order

> Cancel an order and have the stock released automatically.

Sometimes you need to cancel an order, for example because the customer wants to cancel it or because there is a problem with the delivery. When you cancel, the order is also canceled on the sales channel and the reserved stock is released again.

### Canceling an order

1. Go to **Orders** and find the order you want to cancel.

2. Click the action menu (the three dots) next to the order.

3. Click **Cancel**.

4. Select a **reason** for the cancellation. The available reasons are determined by the sales channel.

5. Confirm the cancellation.

The order gets the status **Canceled** and the cancellation is pushed through to the sales channel.

### What happens to the stock?

Whether the reserved stock is released depends on the cancellation reason you choose. For most reasons the stock is booked back automatically, so it becomes available again for other orders. If, for example, you select that the product is out of stock as the reason, the stock for that product is immediately set to 0. This prevents more orders from being placed for that item.

### Good to know

- Canceling is currently only available for orders from bol.

- You can only cancel orders with the status Open, Picking, Picked, Deferred or Backorder.

- Once you cancel, this action cannot be undone and the cancellation is pushed to the sales channel right away.
